Let's get this ball rolling. Every now and again, one reaches a point where, after watching day after day the stupidity run rampant, you just...really can't stay quiet. I mean, sometimes you've just got to vent and let it all out.
I'm about to breach that point.
Yeh, I've left DA on the vague note that I wasn't happy here. I didn't want to get too deeply into it...what would've been the point? I asked myself. But now I feel the need to just get on with the tangent simply for my own peace of mind. You can only sit on the sidelines and watch people be complete brainless twats for so long before you have to speak up.
On that note, before I really get started here, I'll warn you all that this is a rant. A personal rant just to get some things off my mind. As such, this is going to be TL;DR, probably full of foul language, my own speculations and opinions based on everything I've seen. Y'know, everyone has their own opinion, their own methods of coming to a conclusion. These are mine. And I may mention a name or two, but I'm not encouraging anyone to run off and start flame wars, spam, or harass anyone else simply because I think they suck.

Hokay. So I signed up on DA some four years ago. Back then, it was pretty cool. Sure, it had some problems, but what website doesn't, right? I wasn't concerned nor bothered, I was having a good time posting my art, looking at other talented artists' works, and commenting and making friends. I was happy as a clam at high tide. I was content for a long while...but as the years went by, DA was noticeably turning more and more into a shithole of epic proportions.
DeviantART. Is. A. Shit. Hole. A hole, bottomless, fathomless, filled neverending with manky, steaming SHIT.
Oh, I'm being unfair. I still say DA is a shithole, but there truly are wonderful and talented people on here that made my stay delightful. Unfortunately, they are severely outweighed by the copious amounts of shit you find in the pit.
And why, you might ask, do I state my opinion that DA is a shithole? Because it's become a veritable breeding ground for drama- and attention-whores. Tracers, thieves, pathetics, losers, whiney-lying-stupid-Munchausen little asswipes raping everything and anything that's good in this world. WHORES! DA is like...the seedy red-light district of any major metropolis.
POPULARITY & FAME: People actually judge the caliber of their artwork based on their number of pageviews. It's sad. You've got X-amount of pageviews, so you think that makes you a great artist? Fuck you. You have X-amount of pageviews, that makes you a great artist thus you need not expand and explore different methods, style, subjects...I mean, why do that when your current shit just rolls up that pageview counter? Again, fuck you. Being a great artist involves hard work, sacrifice, practice, exploration, challenge...not the number of pageviews in a shithole like DA or how many ZOMG KAWAII asspats you get over a noodle-doodle of Sonic the Hedgehog pole-dancing for Cloud Strife, or whatever. It's bullshit that keeps real artists and potential locked away. Chasethehedgehog is a good example of pageview-inflated-ego syndrome, and Snapesnogger.
OVERRAPED FRANCHISE CHARACTERS: Jesus Christ, can't people come up with their own characters? Now, let's get something straight, I like fanart. There's is nothing wrong with expressing your like for an existing character by drawing fanart of them. But when you get the unabashed pisswads who draw nothing but Sonic, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, Yu-Gi-Oh, Dragon BallZ (Dragon Testicles, plz), and all that other stuff...what are you doing for yourself? Tell me, please. You're doodling a character that isn't yours...too much. You didn't come up with the design, you didn't come up with the background for said character, your learned how to draw the character, but that's it. Over and over and over again I run across this crap on DA, "Omg, I loooove [insert cartoon character you did not invent here] so much, so that's all I draw." Piss off, you suck. You're mediocre. You'll never get any better if you keep this shit up. This also relates to the popularity and fame, yeah, if you keep vomiting out popular characters that are not your own, a wide selection of obsessive dumbasses will flock to your page, inflating your already-fat head and stunting any potential you might have. Good for you!
UNREALISTIC ENDEAVORS: So, you're going to sit on your ass and spew out bug-eyed anime characters and dream about moving to Japan and becoming a famous anime/manga artist?
I pity you. Shoot for something worthwhile. Take up plumbing. I don't care, just stop clogging the internet with your craptastic anime turds. Now...anime is a touchy subject. I don't bash all who draw in anime style, because some of it can be really good, and some of the artists who use that style explore different things in art. To them I say keep working. I have no beef with you. But to you pulsating hemorrhoids who draw ill-proportioned anime doodles because it's so fucking easy and because you have no inclination to improve beyond that...yeah, fuck you. Anime style is too easy. It's child's play. It's stupid.
"IT'S MY STYLE": Y'know when you offer someone a helpful critique, but they don't want to admit that they suck, so they come back with, "It's my style. That's how I like to do it." What...you like to suck? Your style is suck and that's how you like it? Pull your head out of your ass and listen to the people who're trying to help you and stop with the It's My Style horseshit.
And on that note CRITIQUE: God, I can't stand people who cry when they get an honest crit. Do you know what I'd be willing to sell to get more constructive crits? These people aren't being mean to you, they're not being rude, they're not trying to drag you down...they're trying to help you. They're not holding you back, rather they're trying to push you forward closer to being better. I've seen some of the nicest, most helpful crits get shot down with "OMG, you meanie! This is perfect, I don't care what you say! You're just a jealous bully out to get me, I'm blocking you!"

TRACERS I.E. THIEVES: This goes for paintovers, copiers, all that junk. "I used it as a reference!" Yeah, whatever, fuck you. Even tracing bits and pieces from different pictures makes you a freaking thief. Isn't that right, ManeaEve? You're a lowly tracer, you really should know. And the really sad part of that is ManeaEve traces in hopes of piling up the popularity and pageviews...but she can't even trace with any amount of decency. She's not but a childish little furfag residing in a land of denial where even her traced shit sucks balls. Freehand drawings from kindergarten children are far better than ManeaEve's garbage "art" that she steals from better artists. Ain't that right, Faust7? These people who trace and copy truly are the lowest of the low. They want the pageviews, they want the fame, but work? Oh, dear, that's just too hard. Why work when you can trace and vomit some bullshit about referencing? It's not your work, you didn't draw it, you didn't make any effort...you traced/copied someone else's hard work. I simply can't understand how you get satisfaction from it, how you can accept asspats from your tracer friends or from people who just don't know that you trace. In reality, you suck at drawing. Try getting better with practice instead of being a lazy fuck with no talent.
This...is only the tip of of the proverbial iceberg. Yes, these sorts of problems are everywhere on the webs, but it's an epidemic here on DA. Here the art doesn't matter so much as pageviews and asspats, and that's just sad. And the porn? Need I start on that? Yes, let's post "artistic nudes" of our boyfriends and girlfriends fondling themselves in the kitchen whilst naked, that'll boost your pageviews, you sick fucks. Take a picture of your own tiny wrinkled dick and submit it, even if it gets deleted, at least you'll still get pageviews from all the drama. Set the auto-timer on your camera and wait with your saggy, nausea-inducing tits hanging out. Submit it and call it art. God, you people...have you no self respect? Or respect for other people who don't need to see your dirty, STD-ridden, crusty, moldy private parts in your parents' basement? Get that shit off the webs, it's disgusting. And crap like that is chosen for Daily Deviations here...
Pregnant Transformers, inflation art, fat art, crossover coupling of the stupidest kind, such as Amy the hedgehog with Jack Sparrow...just...fuck you. People who envision love affairs with fictional characters...dear God, get outside, you freaks. There's a girl on here who has an unhealthy obsession with James Sunderland, you know, that blundering blond guy from Silent Hill 2...even aside from the fact that he does not exist, his character murdered his wife. Greeeat! Imagine crazy circus weasel sex with a video game character and hope he doesn't smother you with a pillow post-coitus! There's actually someone on here with an...er...appetite for Waluigi. I'd rather sift through the contents of a gas station toilet than look at crayola crap porn of Waluigi or fanfics of Waluigi and Wario deflowering young virgins. What. The. Fuck?
And what about the drama? DA has become MySpace, just with even more emofagdrama. Bitches nonchalantly claiming the had a miscarriage...if you ever really had a miscarriage, you wouldn't be running around on DA stating it as though you had nothing worse than excessive dandruff. ZOMG, your parents beat you every day with anvils and shove bamboo under your fingernails...in return all your stupid asspatters will draw crappy art for you and buy you a subscription. Freeloading cornholes. The drama with these bitches on DA is one of the many things that really got to me on DA. Everywhere I turned it was just boo-hoo-give-me-stuff-because-my-life-sucks. Babe, lemme tell you something, there's always someone out there whose life sucks more than yours does. Or what about these deviants who claim they have no money, no food, they're getting evicted, blah blah...yet they're still on the internet ordering commissions? Fuck you.
And last but not least...THE MODS: Oooo, where to start.

You guys just plain suck. Your site sucks because you suck. You don't give a shit. DA is your cash cow now, so why should you give a shit to make DA a pleasant and fair place? Fuck you. Bunch of lazy and hypocritical farts. You'll cut the slack to anyone who pays up for subscriptions, but woe to those who speak any truth without offering a bribe first. The mods call people retards, contradict themselves constantly, behave like complete childish assholes because they see themselves as demi-gods if not gods. You provoke, you feed the drama, you're unfair and biased. You comprehend nothing, your deductions are flat out retarded, you methods are stupid, you handle situations as efficiently as a blind man handles brain surgery.
Consequently, I won't be surprised if I get banned for this journal. God forbid if you don't play along that DA is a candyland of hope and wonder.
There is so much stupidity on DA, however, I couldn't keep going on without speaking of it. If I do wind up getting banned for whatever, then I am sorry to my friends here...love you guys. So, to my good friends here, and all the talented artists, and to those who don't shitstorm drama over trivial stuff...I thank you for getting through my ravings of all that is wrong with DA. You guys are seriously something special. You're smart, fun, enjoyable, and talented. It's people like you who inspire me and keep me holding out hope for the race of human beings.
